A Restful Home For A Long Day!

Today has been a really long day!  I am on a work-cation and trying to get a little bit of both in daily has proven to be nothing short of work!  Yes, I am quite bushed, but I am very happy, but bushed!  Right now, I want to kick back, relax in silence, and since I'm still in Little Rock, enjoy the scenic beauty nightfall brings in Pleasant Valley!

I love that this entry is very open, airy, and spacious!  Look at that incredible light coming through!  Every detail of this entry I adore!  The fabric on the chair paired with the pillow that it holds, the rug selection, and those lanterns...long sigh!  I'm usually not a fan of two types of flooring being used in the same space, but this tile works amazingly well with the hardwood!  Nor am I an advocate of accent walls, however the gray finish on the door wall paired with the creme finish on the adjacent walls is really very nice!

I could never have white slipcovered furniture in my home, for you see I have people who are not as careful as me!  Not that I think you have to be extra careful with white, however there is a certain amount of self awareness that is needed in order to not have to constantly have the cleaning products at the ready!

I would linger here long after dinner has been eaten!  Why?  There is a purity about this space that is calming and could quite easily make me drift into a quiet place.  The ghost dining chairs add to the spaciousness of the area taking up no visual weight at all.  The sheer draperies, lightweight and allowing all of that glorious light to beam brightly through.  The beautiful cabriole leg on the natural wood table is, I think romantic.  The lanterns add an old world charm that suits the space perfectly.  Now, after all this room has to offer, wouldn't you want to linger as well?

Ah, this kitchen... Starting with the white-washed exposed brick; it adds a softened appeal to an element that is anything but.  The reclaimed wood floors in it's natural state adds so much character and an authenticity that would not be had with any other floor.  The placement of art, pictures, that wonderful antiqued brass mirror, and plants makes this more than just a place where meals are prepared.  To cap it off with the stainless countertop and stools...Yes!!!

The feminine simplicity of this room is pure loveliness.  The tall upholstered, tufted headboard with nailhead trim is beautiful.  The chosen linens with delicate detail is a perfect compliment to the floral-like motif of the wallpaper.  All of the elements in a monochromatic scheme makes a restful nights sleep attainable.

How much do I love this fireplace and the mirror above!  Notice every detail of this space!  The design, stone, and brick used on this fireplace is wonderful!  The Ceiling with the narrow planks and skylight, how thoughtful!  This is where winding down after a long day is worth day dreaming about!

Today Is My Dads Birthday!

Today is my dad's birthday!  I will keep this very simple because I know he will read this posting and I don't want to embarrass him!  He was probably the first subscriber to my blog!  So with that being said... I am truly blessed to have my dad!  I am the oldest and the only girl, so yes, I'm definitely a Daddy's girl and as I have been told, spoiled.  Hmmm, I don't know about that, but what I do know is that my dad is one of my best friends.  He is my mentor in business, one of my biggest supporters, and sometimes even a critic when I need it.  It hasn't always been the easiest road to travel with him, you see, I really am my father's daughter and our similarities are startling!  But when the rubber meets the road, I cannot imagine my life without him and I thank God daily for the amazing dad he is and the incredible blueprint for life, love, and business he has given me!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!

Not sure why Gillian thought it was her Papa's 23rd birthday, but hey, I'm sure it made him feel great!!!

Monday's Office...And It's Mine!

What an absolutely incredible holiday weekend I had with my family!  I couldn't have asked for a better one!  We celebrated all the way up until midnight last night!  I am the oldest of four kids.  I have three brothers and no sisters, so my girl cousins filled the void of me not having sisters.  I spent practically the entire day at my cousin Erica's home with another cousin Carla.  We chatted and laughed for hours on end!  It was just what I needed!

BTW, this is my office here in Little Rock.  I'm typically here every six to eight weeks, depending on my client workload, and I will stay anywhere from one week to four!  I haven't done very much to get it organized because while I'm here I stay pretty busy.  However, over the next few days I am going to take a little time to make it a little bit more functional for me.  First thing on my list of needs is another chair!  Something pretty, but also comfortable!

Happy Memorial Day!

Words truly cannot express how so very grateful I am for the sacrifice of those who have and are currently serving in our nations armed forces and the sacrifices of their families!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  It is your benevolence that allows me the peace of mind and freedom to pursue my goals and dreams, and have a life of prosperity.  God bless you all!

Antiquing In Keo, Arkansas

Another day spent out and about as my visit home continues! This time my haunts take me to the antique shops in Keo, Arkansas, just minutes east of Little Rock. I wish I'd snapped more shots of the beautiful silver serveware and porcelain pieces! There were nine small buildings of some of the most exquisite antique furnishings that I've ever laid eyes on! Simply incredible! Are there still craftsmen that create such magnificent work, or is it more that we just don't appreciate it enough to pay for it? Hmmm...whatever the case may be, we are totally missing out on an expressive, one of a kind artistry!

Make it amazing!

Like A Great Big Hug...Hardin's Farm And Market Too

I subscribe to Tobi Fairley's Blog and receive daily updates on what she's up to and all of the new and exciting things that inspire her.  She too is from Arkansas and lives in Little Rock, so I'm quite pleased to have had the opportunity to not only meet her, but to sit in on a couple of presentations that she has given at High Point market.  In a recent blog posting she mentioned being asked by Country Living magazine to share her pick of "off-the-beaten-path destinations" in her home state for their 50 Things To Do This Summer In 50 States.  She chose Hardin's Farm and Market Too in Scott, Ar as the place to stop if you're traveling through the state.  Well, with Scott being so close to Little Rock, just east about 25 minutes, we hit the road to see it for ourselves!  It did not disappoint!  It is such a charming, quaint market that has all of the elements you would expect to see at an off the road market!  I got to chat a little bit with the owners and show them the article from Country Living on my iPhone.  They were tickled pink and just as nice and accommodating as you would expect around these parts!

Ya'll come back now, ya hear!

My Friday Adventure In Nature!

And how beautiful it was!  Oh my gosh!  This morning my two lovelies, my dad and step mom, visited the Two Rivers Park that is a beautifully scenic project that was just recently completed in the last year or so.  There is a bridge that crosses part of the Arkansas river that ends on one of the islands that sits peacefully near the center.  It is located just a few hundred yards west of the I-430 bridge.  Crossing the I-430 bridge is always so beautiful to me whether it is spring or winter because the hillside is littered with the most stunning trees and homes!  At night the light from the homes twinkle in the dark making for quite a magical view!  Back to the park!  Walking across the newly built Two Rivers Park bridge to the island where there are nature trails, bike trails, and park benches is nothing short of surreal!  It is like nature greets you in all forms!  We saw Pine trees, Pecan trees, Plum trees, and different variations of plants that all came together to form this glorious place!  I am so not exaggerating!  The highlight was when we saw two deer grazing, that quite honestly could care less that we were watching them in awe!  They continued about their breakfast without interruption from us!  I tried to get a couple of pics, but unfortunately, they were just too far for my iPhone to zoom in!  However, I did capture an itty bitty green spider that stopped dead in it's tracks when it sensed my kids and I hovering!  No, we didn't kill it!  That just would have been rude since we were visiting its' home!

A view of the city of Little Rock from the I-30 bridge heading south towards the River Market.

My Lovelies and I on the bridge.

The I-430 bridge and hillside in the distance.

A little critters home possibly?

Isn't nature amazing!

Tiny plums rippening on the tree and an opening in a tree that my son could stand up straight and walk right on in!  Hmmm, can't imagine what goes in there after dark!

How gorgeous are these tree lines!  Walking through there was like walking through nature's air conditioner!  It was wonderful!

I wonder if the itty bitty green spider lives on this green patch of moss?

This sign shows the river in blue with signs that show the location of different sights and attractions along the rivers banks.

Have a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!

Stair Logic With Beautiful Imagination!

Stairs are more than just a mere means to get you from one floor to another!  They should be looked at as a way to create an interesting, exciting, and beautiful way to get to the next level!  As we enjoy the journey we find ourselves on in life, we too should enjoy the path that takes us from one floor to the next in our homes!  I don't think it takes a great deal of time, especially if you hire someone to do it for you, it just takes a little imagination!  Whether you express yourself through the railings you select, or the treads and risers, there are ways to make moving in between floors an adventure instead of pure logic!  Duh, I mean, how else would you get from one floor to the next; other than an elevator...and how many of us have those!  Yeah, exactly what I thought!  Have fun with it!  Make it exciting!
