Monday's Office or Dining Room...

Today's work space comes courtesy of Aerin Lauder's new Manhattan office conference room.  This image struck quite a chord with me.  First things first, it's gorgeous!  I love the clean simplicity the walls and furnishings lend.  The amazing piece of art on the wall, makes all of the other elements all the more beautiful.  The natural fiber flooring grounds the airy space and brings a very tactile quality to what could have easily become somewhat of a one dimensional space, although a very lovely one!

So, now to why this space struck quite a chord with me.  My home is a two story, three bedroom, with a separate living room, family room, eat-in kitchen, and dining room.  As my business has grown (yet not to the point of me renting office space), and my collection of samples, resources, and the like have grown along with it, I need a suitable space.  I was thinking of turning my dining room into my office.  I love the idea of having a chandelier in there!  Yes, my children love to eat in the dining room.  This is actually their room of choice for eating our meals.  I guess I can understand that, since the kitchen table is where they typically do their homework.  Not such great memories made there, huh?

Anyhoo, I would have to buy new furniture because the existing dining room table and chairs look like they belong in a dining room (as they should), but not a room that serves dual purposes.  Since this room is small, I would like to do a table that doesn't take up much visual space, with chairs that can be used, really, in any room.  So, I will be pondering this thought to see what creative ideas I can come up with.  In the meantime...

Make it AMAZING!
