Define, Divide, And Separate!

Sometimes in our interiors, where there are no walls or clearly defined separation, we need to be creative and clever in how we separate these areas for their intended functions.  The following images show really wonderful, thoughtful ways of doing just that!

How beautiful is this!  To hang a large mirror from the ceiling to separate the living space from the sleeping space is genius.  One, if the space is small, and the assumption is that it is small, then the mirror not only acts as a separating barrier, but two, a way to create the illusion of a larger room!

Traditional Home

By using lightweight linen draperies at the entry of this dining room, it adds elegance to an already beautiful space and clearly defines it as a very special place in the interior.

This shelving wall is a terrific functional way to separate and define two areas.  On the other side, although not certain what it looks like, I would probably not have shelving, but rather treat it as a wall and hang some sort or wall art, canvas, etc.

I'm loving the fireplace as the element that separates and defines these two spaces!  Since you have use of it from both sides, it does connect the two spaces, however separating them by continuing up to the ceiling.

Wow!  What an awesome way to define the space while allowing the continuity of the two areas by mounting a television to a glass panel!  How amazing is that!  How fierce would it be if it actually was able to rotate around so that it can be viewed from the other side from time to time!  Am I thinking too much here?  I love the low console below!  This acts more as the divider than the glass panel!  So modern!

Happy Hump Day!
