All Out Glamour!

This room makes me swoon!  Words seem to fail me!  The mirrored fireplace is gorgeous!  The chairs flanking it, with their unique design, adds to the unique personality of the area.  The sheer window treatments, the gold ornate mirror above the fireplace, all come together to create a magical place to glance upon as you lounge across the room on a velvet daybed, covered by a fur throw that is nothing short of bliss!  Absolute bliss!

Until next time!

Frame It!

I am searching for ways to create a beautiful, awe inspiring wall composition.  There is so much you can do to make a wall more than just merely a wall of photos.  I'm thinking, I may want to not only use photos, but art, ledges, shelving, and even more organic pieces such as branches and the like.  Hmmm...I'm seeing that!  What do you think?  You know, using one of those canvases with the street names on them, a couple of strategically placed mirrors that are more like art, a randomly placed (small) tree branch of sorts, a shelf to hold a couple of pieces, a ledge on which to lean a great photo or two, maybe leaning a larger photo on the floor, etc., etc.!  Are you seeing it?  Gosh, I love what I do!  Whichever direction I decide to go in, these images have definitely lit a spark to jump start that creative surge I need in order to get started drawing, plotting, and planning!  Can't wait to share the final outcome with you!

I so love the polaroid style frames!  How fantastic is this!  I am now on the hunt for these!  They are incredible!  What a different take on the gallery wall!  Wow!  I am in love!

Incredible idea to use two rows of gallery framed images along the wall in this hallway!  It makes it feel longer!  Cool lighting would make this space really amazing in the evening!  Is that a horse?  Oh boy!  We all know how I feel about horses right now!  Another way to make a hallway appear longer and brighter is the addition of a mirror on the wall at the end!  That stool is so cool!  Oh my gosh, those legs are fab-u-lous!  Really?  I can't believe I just said "fabulous"!  Why?  It is so over-used and I detest it almost as much as I do the word "cute"!  Ugh!

May I be honest?  I'm not quite sure how I feel about the frames in this galley kitchen!  I like it because it is different and it does give it a "gallery" feel, but I don't like it because it almost feels like the walls are closing in on me!  What do you think?  I am glad the walls are white and not a deeply saturated color, though.  If it were, I think I would feel claustrophobic!  No?  Never the less, a really nice idea!

Now this!  I adore!  The different finishes of the frames, some are ornate, some aren't; not to mention the varying sizes and randomness of how they are hung!  I'm not much into accent walls when it comes to painting one wall a different color than the others; only because it's predictable and doesn't take much thought; but designing interesting compositions on walls to create an accent wall, I can totally get with that!

Architectural Digest

Here again, I really like the idea of the framed photos on this wall behind the banquette.  It has a very "diner" type vibe going.  Also, I personally am not much into family photos in public areas of the home, BUT I would make the exception here only because the kitchen and casual dining areas, in my opinion, are all about family, friends, and love!

Why Did I Start Blogging, You Might Ask?

The other day while talking with a very good friend of mine, the question was posed, "why did you start blogging?"  At the time, I really couldn't answer the question. But since then, I've pondered it and this is why!  First, I love having a place where I can share images of what inspires me in a creative way, that's all "me".  Second, I love that such a community, the blogging community, exists where people like me, find inspiration from one another, AND for that very reason it inspires us to do more, search for more, and create more, for you our readers! Third, and might I say for me, the main reason is I get to be creative in my writing. It thrills me to no end to sit at my laptop and type my thoughts, in my voice, in a way that gives you insight into the kind of person I am.   However quirky, colorful, or deep; I am who I am, and I do think you get a very strong sense of who I am through my writing!  I  have always enjoyed creative writing!  Believe it or not, I've won quite a few essay writing contests while in school, and was among the highest scores on my sophomore comp examination!  Ah memories...Yikes!  However fond they are I choose not to go back!  Most, if not all, of my inspiration for writing comes from personal experiences or those of my family and friends, with their permission of course!  We all have stories to tell in a voice that's all our own.  It's just a matter of finding that voice and letting the stories pour out!  Think you need a little writing help to get started?  There are writing tutors that can assist you in getting your thoughts and ideas together so that you can make the most of your writing experience!

Anyhoo, this friend that I mentioned earlier, is a phenomenal writer!  I wish he would consider doing something with this most amazing talent that he has!  His short stories will literally transport you to wherever the story takes place!  It is incredible!  There is no time like the present to seize the countless opportunities out there to do what you love and actually make money doing it!  Which leads me to the fourth reason I blog.  Not that I see blogging as a way to make loads of money, however I do see it as an avenue that can open doors and afford me opportunities I've not ever considered.  Nothing ever just happens!  I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason!  That day, back in September, 2011 when I set up my blog and clicked "publish", I had no idea of what journey I was about to embark!  But, I can tell you, four months later, I'm so excited and inspired by all of its' possibilities!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's All In The Details

The most taxing part of bringing any interior together are the details.  It can take, seemingly, forever to get the right elements in the right composition to make the best statement.  It's a lot of adding and editing that goes into this part of the process.  However, when you hit the right note, the space sings in perfect harmony!  I so enjoy layers!  Not just layers of objects on a flat surface, although I do love that, but layers of colors, textures, and prints.  As you can see from the images, it's all a matter of taking what you have and what you love, and arranging it in a way that is lovely and functional for the way that you live.

Natural Beauty Is Gorgeous!

Do I really need to say anything at all about these images?  They truly speak for themselves!  Just take a moment to look at each one and really appreciate the simplistic, natural quality of the spaces and their elements that elevate them to gorgeous!

Image

The pendants are so beyond beautiful in this entry!  The iron doors are the perfect complement to the exposed brick walls!  The white-wash of the entire space...WOW!!!

The distressed plank ceiling paired with the natural wood floors makes every element and detail in this room a stand out!

Even in a retail setting, the natural simplicity of the table and concrete floors make you want to browse the racks to see, feel, and touch the clothing and accessories!

Happy Friday!

Which Comes First, The Color Inspiration Or The Mood?

I love color!  I can't imagine my life without it!  I've been told I have a very "colorful personality"!  Hmm, what do you suppose they meant by that?  Anyhoo!  To find color inspiration and then interpret it into an interior successfully is such a great feeling!  Not necessarily successful because you got the colors right, but because you got how you wanted to feel in the space right.  Yes, to visually like the colors is very important!  What is imperative, but given very little thought is the mood and the feeling that the colors convey.  I know for me, it's more about how I want to feel in the room, more so than about the color.  So which comes first, the color inspiration or how you want to feel in the space?  I'm thinking, probably on a sub-conscious level is how you want to feel in the space, and this consciously determines the colors we select.  Did I just get deep again!  Sorry!  What can I say, nothing that is thought to be simple, really is!

I just had to include this beautiful owl!  God is so amazing!  There is nothing in this world that can take credit for something being so incredibly beautiful!  I mentioned in one of my earlier postings about an "owl story" that I have!  One day, I will have to share my story of the 3 foot owl!  That's right, I said 3ft!  Ha!  You will forever think I not only have a colorful personality, but a very fanciful imagination as well!

Have a terrific day!
