It's Glossy!

I'm thinking about glossy finishes for an upcoming project, so I've been pouring over dozens of images via websites, magazines, and all other resources to find inspiration!  As you will see, not all are images of interiors or furnishings!

Glossy lips are fabulous when done right!  These are perfectly done!  Great color and pretty white teeth!  Seriously, how sexy are these!

Glossy black is very chic in any room!  It instantly adds a tasteful richness and dignified gracefulness that speaks for itself.  I'm always one to keep it simple and allow select elements to be the standout.  As in this bathroom, the clawfoot soaking tub painted in black and white is the centerpiece that is joined by exquisite draperies in a lovely aubergine with a subtle pattern.  The beautiful tufted chair in mustard and a simple brass framed photograph adds a dash of buoyancy!

This ceramic tile from Walker Zanger is incredible!  The pattern and color is fresh and modern.  The console featured here, with the circle pattern panels, is the perfect complement in black.  This would be great in a small entry or hallway !  I'm not much for accent or feature walls, but for a niche, no matter it's intended use, I would be on board!

Okay, love, love, love the idea of using this in a butlers pantry or highlighting a cabinet grouping or a peninsula in a kitchen!  Although, the color shown here is black, any color can be used.  I'm kinda leaning more towards deeply saturated colors, but I can't imagine any color being a wrong color as long as the application is done well.  Wow! Wow! Wow!

Apartment Therapy

Confession!  I have seen where a polyurethane finish was added to hardwoods in a living and dining room that I honestly just did not like!  I just didn't think that it suited the two rooms for the furnishings and elements that already existed there.  But who am I to have an opinion!  However, I do feel differently about painted floors that have a high gloss shine!  Like all other design decisions, consideration of where this application is to be done, the amount of traffic, etc. should be given.

House Beautiful

Oooh, this barrel vaulted ceiling looks great with a high gloss finish!  Just as we paint trim and moldings with high gloss paint to highlight them, doing this with other architectural elements is a wonderful way to add oomph!  I know that's not a word, but you got where I was coming from, right?

This room speaks to every design inclination I have!  Color, Pattern, Texture, Light, etc, etc, etc!  A tremendous composition of beauty and complexity!  Ahhh...
