I finally registered my iPad with Better Homes and Garden's digital subscription that is free with my regular subscription and I am so glad that I did! I had gotten this picture in an e-mail last week, but of course, didn't really look at it because my in box is overrun with messages! So, anyhoo, I was able to "Pin" this image from the digital page. Thanks BHG for making it so easy!
What I adore about this room is that the wall color is a very light neutral with an almost white ceiling and trim with punches of subtle color, pattern, and texture. The draperies are varying shades of beige, tan, and gray in wide horizontal stripes. This adds depth to the wall, while nicely framing the window. The rug, while yet another neutral, is a lovely, bold contrast to the draperies with a large floral vine pattern. The pair of chairs have such a beautiful silhouette, finished in lush velvet, with legs in an of the moment, natural wood finsh. Upholstered ottomans are a great way to go because they can be used as a coffee table, as well as added seating. This particular one is styled so well with a soft pink throw and vase of lovely pink tulips. Having these elements placed on a tray makes it easy to remove if a need for additional seating occurs. I love the simplicity of the mantle. I'm really attracted to this look as I am restyling my own and was thinking of doing white accessories. The sunburst mirror is a sculptural piece that makes a wonderful statement in the room, along with the urn that sits on the hearth. This is a great example of how a neutral room can be dressed up by using elements that make a statement, though not compete, and come together to create a cohesive look.
Have a lovely Sunday!
Rhonda
