I was scrolling through my Pinterest feeds last week and saw the following...
...and it summed up almost exactly how I think and feel about life! When I was younger I didn't give very much thought to "ordinary" things. You know, things like the ones listed above. Now that I'm older and have a greater appreciation and gratitude for all that I have and am able to do, I always try to go beyond. Beyond what? Beyond regular. Beyond ordinary. Beyond what is expected. When I first began blogging, which is coming up on a year in October, I toyed with a lot of closings to each posting. None really felt like "me", until "make it amazing". This is how I feel about everything! Don't just smile, make it an amazing smile! Don't just do laundry, do amazing laundry (fold neatly, put away nicely, iron with much detail)! Don't just say thank you, send a handwritten note (on nice stationary)! Take that simple, ordinary task and make it amazing. How this relates to the quote above, I have no idea! But for me, this is my interpretation. Since I too, think life is art...make it amazing!
I imagine, if I passed this woman, I would think she is stylish, self assured, and deliberate in what she does, how she does it, and with whom she does it! She knows the importance of having wardrobe essentials; ie the cashmere camel coat, white blouse, black pant, and structured lady-like handbag (Hermes, no less). She also has a flair for adding more trendier pieces, such as how she's layerd her necklaces, the rings, and of course the shoes! Everyone can wear what she has on, but not everyone will wear it with the same style and flair. The attitude you have while wearing anything creates an ART composition that is uniquely yours!
This table setting is another example of art. From the plates to the flatware to the glasses; there is nothing ordinary about this! Taking it a step further and adding the lovely flowers, scattering pomegranites, and figurative scultures is definitely ART! An amazing expression of individualism!
Beautiful wrappings, well, what do I need to say about this? It doesn't have to be pretty, decorative paper! It can be as simple as craft paper or newspaper done with unique trim, such as flowers, beads, etc. As long as you go beyond, adding your personal touch, and make it amazing; this is ART!
I've always been attracted to this picture of this living space! I am inspired by how the homeowner uses different finishes, styles, and textures in a random, put purposeful way. I see three distinct areas of ART created within the vignettes on the black lacquer chest that holds the TV, the brass iron side table, and the black lacquer, glass top coffee table! I love it! This room makes me happy! Why would it make me happy? It has been furnished with items and elements that have been collected over time and more than likely each has a story behind it that makes for a room filled with memorable moments, happy times, and sheer comfort!
Make it AMAZING!
