If you research what each of these colors represent, you will find that they co-exist perfectly! White, emerald (green), and gold represent purity and kindness, rest and balance, wealth and good health; all of which we need and desire in our lives. Interior design is about so much more than just making our environments beautiful and functional. It is also about creating environments that will foster well-being, peace of mind, mental clarity, and sustain us in a way that nothing else can or will. Our homes should be our refuge, our haven, the place where we can escape the outside world and all the things that weigh us down. Which color you choose to use as your dominant and sub-dominant is completely up to you. The point is to use them in the spaces that you want to infuse with these qualities.
What I like about this interior photo is the modern cleaness and purity of white, warmed by the dollops of green and gold. But it doesn't stop there! The textures also help to prevent this space from being cold, hmmm, sterile even. The flooring, soft underfoot; the tufted leather chair, sumptuous; and the wood in the fireplace, speckled with loose bark. All are treats for the senses! The reflective quality of the coffee table and sunburst mirror above the mantel are structural by design and also infuses more light, shine, and glamour!
